In this episode we talk about Evgenia’s wild and amazing graduation from the Integrated Media Arts MFA program at Hunter College. This includes a discussion of Evgenia’s controversial mockumentary thesis film Changemaker, the thesis screening controversy from which the IMA program director claimed he would need days to recover, and the commencement exercises at Madison Square Garden featuring speeches by Hillary Clinton and fellow Class of 2019 MFA graduate Isabella Rossellini. Even with all that spectacular material we still find time to discuss the film school racket in general, as well as some films made by other media program graduates who got famous, such as The Passion of Martin (Alexander Payne, 1990, UCLA), Fear, Anxiety & Depression (Todd Solondz, 1989, NYU), The Set-up (Kathryn Bigelow, 1978, Columbia University), From the Drain (David Cronenberg, 1967, University of Toronto), Doodlebug (Christopher Nolan, 1997, University College of London), and Victoria para Chino (Cary Fukunaga, 2004, NYU).
